Northwestern New Jersey is the most scenic region in the state, with rolling hills for hiking,and lakes and rivers for fishing and boating. It is within easy driving distance of New york City (65 miles) and Philadelphia (75 miles). Clinton Historical Museum

New Jersey's landmark Red Mill recounts nearly 200 years of agriculture and rural industry. Related and changing exhibits present a full range of educational programs on 19th. century Northwest New Jersey. Additionally, the 10 acre Mulligan quarry includes12 structures and outdoor exhibits. April through October, Tuesday-Sunday, 10am-4pm. Admission Fee


Historic Speedwell

Site of former iron works, the site of the invention of the telegraph and early steamship engine. A trip to the site gives visitors insight into the craftsmanship, industry and spirit of Stephen Vail and his peers. Self guided tours, special events May through October, thursday & Friday, 12:00pm-4:00pm.; Saturday & Sunday, 1:00pm-5:00pm. Admission Fee


Shippen Manor/Oxford Furnace

Restored 240 year old manor serves as museum/cultural center for Warren County. Oxford Furnace was the site of the first hot blast furnace in America. Visit the ruins of longest continuous iron producer in the United States from 1741-1884. Guided tours, by costumed docents, 1st.and 2nd. Sundays of each month from 1:00pm-4:00pm. excluding holidays; Wednesdays for groups by appointment. Special events are scheduled throughout the year. Donation


Sterling Hill Mining Museum

Features underground mine tour, including a spectacular fluorescent cavern, where you can see shafts from which miners brought ore thousands of feet underground. Over 30 acres of indoor and outdoor displays and historic buildings. Weekends in March and December, weather permitting, and April through November, 10:00am-5:00pm. Admission Fee


Waterloo Village

Restored 18th./19th. century settlementadministrated by a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of American history and the arts. The village features historic house tours, craft shops demonstrating early trades and a seventeenth century Lenape Indian village and museum. Mid-April through December Tuesday-Sunday, 10:00am-6:00pm. Admission Fee


Macculloch Hall Historical Museum

Birthplace of the Morris Canal and five generations of statesmen, scientists, artists, militeary leaders and community philanthropists. "The Old Hall" and its furnishings demonstrates the affluence and changing fortunes of America's 19th. century captains of industry.
