Twenty-First Annual Scenic Skylands Photo Contest Winners Announced

The Warren County Cultural & Heritage Commission is pleased to announce the winners of the 21st Annual Scenic Skylands Photo Contest. Entries were received from photographers throughout the northwest region.

The Best of Show winner for this year’s contest was Lauren Mersch from Hackettstown who had entered in the Amateur category.

Winners in the Professional category include: Don Myles a First Place winner from Belvidere; Jeffery S. McPhie from Hackettstown took the Second Place Ribbon; Barbara Ann Giovanucci from Washington won Third Place, while Claire Jones, also from Washington won Fourth Place. Other Professional contestants include Laura Braman from Asbury, Jeff McConnell from Anandale, and Carol Southerland from Belvidere.

Amateur category winners include: Mathew Fila of Belvidere took the First Place Ribbon, Maria Naccarato of Washington won Second Place, James Cole from Oxford won the Third Place Ribbon, and Ann Miller of Newton took the Fourth Place Prize. Other contestants in the Amateur category include: Linda Aller of Washington, Tracy Antz of Belvidere, Bob Baker and Don Borcherding of Hackettstown, Carol Harrington of Washington, Glenda R. Kiszonak from Oxford, William McMyne of Blairstown, and Mildred Rice from Belvidere. Priya Gupta of Asbury was the lone student competitor and was awarded a Second Place by the Judge.

Robert Beaver, professional photographer and proprietor of Village Studio of Hunterdon located in High Bridge, was the judge for our Twenty-First Annual Skylands Photo Contest. ‘This was a difficult show to judge.’ Robert Beaver commented, ‘because the quality is very high.’ The show will be on display until January 17, 2017 when all photos must be picked up 10 AM until 12 Noon. Thereafter, remaining photos will be at Shippen Manor, 8 Belvidere Avenue, Oxford, NJ until February 24, 2017. Any work not picked up by February 24, 2017 will be recycled. The 21st Annual Scenic Skylands Photo exhibit will be displayed until January 17, 2017 in the Wayne Dumont Jr. Administration Hall Gallery, on Route 519 south in Belvidere. The gallery is open to the public during regular weekday business hours and is an ADA accessible location. The Warren County Cultural and Heritage Commission presents this show with support from the Warren County Board of Chosen Freeholders, and is funded in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
